Finding and Ordering Materials in other Libraries

There are many ways to locate and borrow materials that are owned by other libraries. You can physically go to most area libraries and use the materials there, or go to a partner academic library and use your library card to check out materials or make copies of articles.

To find books and journals in other Libraries, use the World Cat database. Also, check out this listing of other libraries.

Tip: When you are in a World Cat record about a book or journal you'd like to see, click on the libraries icon from WorldCat Libraries icon to see which local libraries may have it. To order a BOOK for your own use through InterLibrary Loan, click on the InterLibrary+Loan+%26+Search+COD InterLibrary Loan & Search COD Link. You have to order journal articles through Interlibrary Loan, below.

I found a book that I really want to see. How do I get it?

Order the book through Interlibrary Loan. The C.O.D. Library will order the book for you from the library that can deliver it to us the quickest. You will need as much information about the book that you know and your Library Card. The Library will call you when the book is ready for pickup.

I found an article that the C.O.D. Library does not own. How do I get a copy of it?

Order the article through Interlibrary Loan. You'll need to have the journal title, article title, author and date of publication of the article. You'll need a library card to order Interlibrary Loan.

How many items can I order through Interlibrary Loan?

As a student, you can order as many Interlibrary Loans as you need to complete your research.

How long does Interlibrary Loan take?

Interlibrary loan of books usually takes 10-14 days. In many cases, articles will be faxed or delivered electronically to the Library so your article could be ready for you in 3-5 days.
