Finding Articles in the C.O.D. Library Databases
There are several databases that may have journal articles about architects and architecture. You will need a valid Library Card to use the databases from home.
Go to the Architecture Databases list.
To get started, try these databases:
- AVERY Index to Architecture Periodicals--NEW!
- Academic Search Premier
- Expanded Academic Index
- Periodicals Abstracts
Search tip: When using a database, keep your search focused. Use the building name and/or the architect's name. A search for "architecture" would result in way too many hits.
I found an article, but its not full-text. Now what?
Use the Journal Locator to find out if the journal is in another database or if the C.O.D. Library owns it in paper or microfilm.
Tip: Type in the name of the JOURNAL or MAGAZINE that your article appears in. If the title is not owned by C.O.D., go to the Request tab above to find out how to get your hands on a copy.

Finding Images
There are links to several excellent image databases on the Images Databases Page.
- Be sure to try Digital Image Archive--SASKIA.
You can also use a specialized web search engine that looks only for images. Try the Special Search Engines and Directories, under "Multimedia."
Maximizing Your Search
The Library is offering a great new tool that allows you to search several resources at the same time. Try using your architects' name as the search term, and select a few different databases and Library catalogs.
