2 credit hours. In order to receive a final grade and two quarter hours of
college credit, assignments are due by <set by instructor>. |

| Objectives |
Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- Perform a variety of tasks in the areas of:
- Reference assistance
- Circulation of library materials
- Basic cataloging and acquisition of materials
- Interlibrary loan
- Public services
- Communicate effectively with library patrons, supervisor, and staff.
- Explain the structure of the library field experience site.
- Document practical experience to be used in employment as a library technical assistant.

| Work |
Students will complete the following:
- 99 hours of work in the library.
- Creation of a professional portfolio using work samples and experience gained in the field experience.

| Grading |
Methods of Evaluating Students in the Field Experience:
- Evaluation by department head and supervising librarian at the host library site.
- Consultation between the instructor and supervising librarian.
- Student self-evaluation of the field experience
