| Catalog Description: |
Library circulation responsibilities including check
out, check in, reserves, shelf maintenance,
interlibrary loan activities, registering and effective interaction with
patrons. Automated systems emphasized. Prerequisite: Library Technology
101.

| Course Objectives: |
- To familiarize students with terminology related
to circulation services and duties performed by the circulation
staff.
- To expose students to a variety of automated
circulation systems.
- To familiarize students with interlibrary loan
and its procedures.
- To acquaint students with the advantages and
disadvantages of security systems.
- To acquaint students with effective methods of
dealing with patrons while projecting a positive library image.
- To familiarize students with changing library
philosophy as it pertains to fines and fees.

| Course Requirements: |
Students are expected to be familiar with college
policies covered in the College of DuPage catalog. Class attendance is
required. Ten points will be deducted for missing a class. Late
assignments will be lowered by one letter grade. Assignments later than
two weeks will not be accepted. Students should come
to class prepared to discuss the assigned readings.

| Make-up Policy: |
If you cannot attend class on the scheduled date for
a test, please let us know beforehand so that a make-up can be arranged.
Tests must be made up within two weeks of the
scheduled date. Failure to pre-arrange a make-up will result in the loss
of points for the test. Only one make-up per student is allowed.

| Academic Honesty: |
Any violation of College of DuPage policies
regarding academic honesty and/or integrity will be referred automatically
to the appropriate College authorities for disposition.
