Internet Resources

Isabel Allende Web Site
http://www.isabelallende.com
This is Isabel Allende's personal web site. It contains biographical information, photographs, and selected speeches and lectures given by Allende. Unfortunately, there is no "About the Site" link to verify its authenticity. The site is, however, referenced in the Librarian's Index to the Internet as well as several journal articles and dissertations, and so is presumed to be credible.

Country Studies of the Federal Research Division of the Library of Congress
http://lcweb2.loc.gov/frd/cs/cshome.html
This U.S. government web site is an excellent resource for social, political, and historical background information on 102 countries throughout the world, including Chile. There is even information on the relationship between the Catholic Church and political parties.

The Power Behind the Language of Isabel Allende
http://www-mcnair.berkeley.edu/96journal/escobedo.html
Literary criticism of Allende's novels by Elvia Lizeth Escobedo. Even though the article was written by an undergraduate student at UC-Berkeley in 1996, the site is indexed in the Internet Public Library and is referenced in several journal articles as a credible source.

Feminist Theory Web Site
http://www.cddc.vt.edu/feminism/>
Hosted by the Center for Digital Discourse and Culture at Virginia Tech University, this comprehensive site has links, bibliographies, and informational paragraphs about feminism.
