FAQ's

How do I get updated computer equipment?

The Faculty Technology Replacement Process covers replacement of computer workstations and shared suite printers assigned to full-time faculty at the College of DuPage. The process calls for the replacement of desktop computers every four years and laptop computers every three years.  To accomplish this goal a timetable for the replacement of faculty workstations has been established by the Faculty Technology Advisory Committee.

Exceptions to the timetable and platform changes will be handled through the FTAC Proposal Process.

I saw some neat new computer thing...I think I could use it in my teaching. Where do I get more information?

Planning and Emerging Technology is always on the lookout for hardware and software that would enhance the use of technology in the classroom. If you have seen something, or have a question that something exists, please contact Joe Miragliotta, and he or his staff will investigate it for you.

Why does it take so long to get a computer or computer equipment?

Gateway Computer desktop and notebook computers may be purchased at any time. Non-system unit computer equipment over $1000.00 in cost is purchased only in August and January via a sealed bid process. Any hardware, peripheral, or software under $1000.00 in unit cost may be purchased at any time throughout the year. Information Technology is required to review all hardware purchases. An Under $1000.00 review form is available from Information Technology.
