Software will be installed on college-owned
computers via the enterprise network. The following questions and answers
will provide you with the necessary information for obtaining these applications
for your college computer.
|
| How do I get a Microsoft application
for my college computer? |
- You must request the installation from Information
Technology. You can do this by contacting the Information Technology
Help Desk at Ext. 4357.
- Information Technology staff will evaluate your computer to confirm
its ability to support the software requested. Should additional hardware
purchases be necessary, the cost for this will be your responsibility.
Information Technology is not responsible for the cost of upgrading
hardware to support the software.
- Once your computer has been evaluated and it can support the software,
Information Technology will install the software from the Enterprise
Network. This installation does not include the software media or the
documentation.
|
| How can I get documentation for the
software applications? |
- The software does not come with documentation. However, Microsoft
provides extensive on-line help for its applications. Simply select
Help from the menu to access this feature.
|
| What is the cost of the software? |
- Department software has been institutionally licensed through the
Information Technology Plan.
|
| Once I have submitted my request to
Information Technology, what can I expect? |
- Information Technology will log a Help Desk call on your behalf.
A member of the IT staff will evaluate your computer to determine if
the hardware can support the installation. If additional hardware is
necessary for the installation, IT will prepare an Equipment Review
specifying exactly what hardware is necessary. Once an Equipment Review
is received, it is your responsibility to complete a Purchase Requisition
and send it along with a copy of the Equipment Review to Purchasing.
- Once the hardware purchase is received, you
must place a Help Desk call to have the hardware upgrades installed
in your computer. Upon completion of the hardware install, your software
will be installed on your computer.
