Setting Up an Outlook Profile for the First Time

In order to use Microsoft Outlook, it must first be set up to recognize you on the e-mail system.

  • Click on Start
  • Click Settings
  • Click Control Panel to display the Control Panel

  • Double-click the Mail or Mail and Fax icon

  • Click the Add button
  • Click Microsoft Exchange Server to place a check in the box to begin setting up mail for use with the College of DuPage Exchange Server. Note: If other items have a check in front of them, click on the check to remove it.

  • Click Next
  • Type mse2.cod.edu in the Microsoft Exchange Server: dialog box
  • Press tab and type your last name in the Mailbox dialog box

  • Click Next
  • Leave No chosen when prompted with "Do you travel with this computer?"
  • Click Next

  • Click Finish
  • Make sure the profile listed is highlighted and click Properties

  • With Microsoft Exchange Server highlighted, click Properties

  • mse2.cod.edu should be listed as the Exchange Server
  • Select OK
  • Double-click on the Outlook icon on your desktop. The following screen appears:

  • Enter your User Name at the prompt. (This is your e-mail login name.)
  • Enter dupage at the Domain Name prompt.
  • Enter your email password at the prompt. Note: Your password is located on the COD Enterprise Network Account Request Form (unless you have changed it).
  • Select OK complete the login procedure.

Setting Up an Outlook to Work with Multiple Profiles

In order for more than one person to use outlook on a machine, Outlook must be set up to accept multiple profiles. If the machine to be used by multiple people is currently set up to be used by only one person, that person must first log in to Outlook to complete this step.

  • If Outlook is not already running, double-click on the Outlook icon and log on to the system.
  • Click Tools/Options
  • Click the Mail Services tab

  • Always use this profile should have a check in front of it. To set up Outlook to accept multiple profiles, click Prompt for a profile to be used
  • Click OK to accept this change
  • Click File/Exit and Log Off to exit Outlook and begin setting up additional profiles.

Setting Up Multiple Profiles
  • If Outlook is not already running, double-click on the Outlook icon. The following screen will appear.

  • Click New to begin setting up multiple profiles
  • Click Microsoft Exchange Server to place a check in the box to begin setting up multiple accounts for mail. Note: If other items have a check in front of them, click on the check to remove it.

  • Type in the name to be used for this outlook profile

  • Type mse2.cod.edu at the Microsoft Exchange server: dialog box
  • Type your last name at the Mailbox dialog box

  • Leave No chosen when prompted with "Do you travel with this computer?"
  • Click Next
Finishing the Mail Setup
  • Click Finish
  • From now on you will be prompted with "Choose Profile" to log in to Outlook.

Logging In with Multiple Profiles Set Up
  • When you are prompted with the "Choose Profile" dialog box, clicking the down arrow next to the Profile Name will show you the login profiles set up on the system.
Choosing a Profile to use for Outlook
  • Highlight the profile you want to use and click to select it.
  • Click OK to begin the log on process. Note: You will still need to type in your login ID and password on their corresponding lines. The system remembers the last person that logged in and will come up with that user's login id.
