Enable/Disable Internet Explorer Pop-up Blocker

[ IT Home | Helpdesk | Search IT ]

When you install Service Pack 2, Pop-up Blocker is turned on in Internet Explorer and set to the medium setting, which means it will block most automatic pop-ups. The default settings for the pop-up blocker allow you to see pop-ups that are opened when you click a link or button on a Web site. Pop-up Blocker may prevent some sites from loading correctly. The following instructions detail how to disable Pop-up Blocker.

Configuring Internet Explorer

To Disable Popup Blocker--

1. Open an IE window
2. Click Tools
3. Select Pop-up blocker
4. Select Turn Off Pop-up Blocker

If you have it disabled, you can enable it by the same process. This does not require reloading IE; the changes are instant.

Note: If you do not see Pop-up Blocker listed on the Tools menu, your machine does not have Service Pack 2 installed. For more information on installing Service Pack 2, visit Learn About Windows XP Service Pack 2

Note: Following these steps will disable Pop-up Blocker on your system. COD can not be held responsible for additional Pop-up windows.
