To create an announcement in Blackboard:

1. Enter Blackboard and open a course.
2. Edit Mode - On.
3. Click the Syllabus link on the Course Menu.
4. Click Create Announcement.
5. On the Create Announcement screen, enter a Subject.
6. Enter announcement information in the large Message box.
7. Select one of the options below (a, b, or c):
   1. Select Not Date Restricted to display the announcement until you decide to remove it.
   2. If you want the announcement to appear automatically on a date and automatically disappear on another date, select Date Restricted. Enter the selected dates in the Display After and Display Until sections. Be sure to checkmark both boxes!
   3. If you want to email the announcement:
      1. Select Date Restricted. Since the email will go out immediately (no matter what date is selected), add a checkmark to today's date for Display After.
      2. Add a checkmark to the Display Until box. Enter an ending date.
      3. Add a checkmark to Override User Notification Settings.
8. Click Submit.

On the next screen, a "Success" message appears in the green bar at the top. Your new announcement displays.
