Starting Summer 2009, you can create wikis within Blackboard using Teams LX, an easy to use wiki tool. The TLC plans to offer a Wiki Workshop (say that 5 times fast!) in Fall 2009, but if you are anxious to get started before then, visit the new COD Wiki website http://www.cod.edu/it/blackboard/teamsLX/. Also, new TLC Ask the Expert sessions are planned for this summer and will be announced by e-mail.
Student Blackboard accounts will also be synchronized with myACCESS accounts starting Summer term. Students with an Incomplete grade will continue to use their old Blackboard login information for courses in Summer 2008, Fall 2008 or Spring 2009 terms. (Faculty will see daily student rosters in Blackboard for Summer 2009 courses on May 18. Real-time rosters are already available in myACCESS.) All Summer 2009 students will use myACCESS ID and passwords. New "Help" information for students will be added to the Blackboard login screen before the start of Summer term. Additionally, login information will be mailed to all students. If students still have questions about their myACCESS login information, please direct them to Admissions (in person or ext. 2380).
A podcasting module is now available in Blackboard which will allow instructors to upload podcasts as easily as any other content in Blackboard. To learn about the who, what, when, why, and how of podcasts, please review Podcasting in Blackboard, and view the step-by-step presentation, How to Podcast in Blackboard.
With the current term ending, it's time to get your courses ready for the new term. For instructions on Copying or Exporting/Importing your courses, please see the Faculty FAQs webpage.
Overview Visit Blackboard Central for your one-stop source of information about technical resources, news, schedules and events regarding the College's exciting new Blackboard Learning Management System. As the most widely-adopted course management system among post-secondary institutions in the United States, Blackboard provides a best of breed solution for the many assessment, discussion, and course management tools that are now available to all faculty and staff at the College of DuPage. Be sure to check this site regularly for important updates and announcements. History To better meet the College's changing technology needs, now and in the future, the Blackboard Learning System was purchased in Fall 2006. This decision was based upon the recommendation of the Course Management System Continuous Improvement Team. A Blackboard Transition Team was immediately formed to review, and make, recommendations concerning the successful transition of online, hybrid, and web-enhanced courses into Blackboard. This team was chaired by Annette Haggray, Dean, Academic Alternative/Instructional Support, and met regularly with sixteen members representing all areas of the College. By Fall 2007 term, Blackboard was fully integrated. Currently As
of Spring 2009, Blackboard is used to deliver nearly 250 sections
of fully online
courses, as well as many web-enhanced and hybrid courses. Moving forward,
the Blackboard Distance Learning Advisory Committee (DLAC) will
continue to provide a outlet
for Blackboard discussion as well as providing direction for future
updates. Periodically, the Blackboard system will release product updates
that will introduce new features and enhancements to existing
features. |
