A personal message from College of DuPage President Dr. Robert L. Breuder

Dear Neighbors,

When you think college, you think classroom education. But the most successful colleges are also powerful community resources.

In these economic times, the key focus of that community resource must be jobs. Our role is not only training for the workforce of today and tomorrow, but also helping to develop job opportunities that will employ our graduates and enhance our local economy.

Currently, there is a disconnect between the unemployed and available job opportunities. There are jobs out there, but too often, those looking for work don’t have the right skills. At COD, we are helping to close that gap.

Our Center for Entrepreneurship works toward that end in the areas of small business development, international trade and government contracting.

College of DuPage also responds quickly to employer needs. Some of our non-credit programs are designed to get people back to work in high-demand jobs such as commercial driving and veterinary technology. Many of our certificate and for-credit programs focus on occupations with immediate-hiring and long-term growth potential, including health care and manufacturing technology.

Because of programs like these, there is hope for those looking for jobs. They shouldn’t give up. If they don’t know where to start, we’re here to help and keep our local economy thriving.

Sincerely,

Robert L. Breuder
