UAV High School Camp


Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Camp for High School Students

This one-day camp familiarizes students with the basics of operating a small unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Through classroom and hands-on flying exercises, participants will cover topics such as: FAA rules, air traffic control (ATC) airspace, weather, tactical operations, flight control, accuracy and business uses of the UAV. In the final hour of class, students will put their skills to work in a UAV challenge.

This is for students entering grades 9-12.

8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., $75

Camp Schedule

  • 8 to 9 a.m. Introduction to UAVs and FAA Rules for UAVs
  • 9 to 9:15 a.m. Break
  • 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. Flight #1 - Introduction to Flying a UAV
  • 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. ATC Airspace and Weather
  • 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lunch - Students please bring a sack lunch
  • 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Flight # 2- UAV Tactical Operations
  • 1:45 to 2 p.m. Break
  • 2 to 3 p.m. UAV Business Entrepreneurship
  • 3 to 4:30 p.m. Flight # 3 - UAV Fight Control, Accuracy and UAV Challenge
