Resource Development Internal Policy

The Resource Development Office (RDO) is committed to working with faculty, staff, and volunteers for College of DuPage and the College of DuPage Foundation to obtain support from funders and donors. In order to coordinate effective and quality approaches to sources of funds, all grant applications and solicitations college-wide are centralized and must be channeled through RDO staff. The college community is encouraged to identify innovative, meaningful and creative opportunities for pursuit. RDO, in conjunction with the Cabinet and Deans, will evaluate feasibility.

Opportunities will be evaluated using such measures as alignment with college priorities; return on investment of resources including human capital, operating costs, external partnerships, level of required matching funds and sustainability potential; and feasibility of proposal/campaign. Administrative approval is required.

GRANTS TEAM
Contact: Director of Grants

Overview: In order to most efficiently use resources for the benefit of College of DuPage, the grants team focuses on grant opportunities with potential funding of $10,000 and more, with special attention to opportunities of $100,000 and more. Individuals and teams must demonstrate capacity to engage in rigorous activity that will result in grant proposals reflecting highly on College of DuPage, and that will be suitable for funding.

Priority Areas:
• Proposals that contribute to innovation and/or improvement reflecting the COD mission, strategic plan and research findings, and for which COD has the capacity to competitively respond.
• Opportunities that present with the potential for continuing funding.
• Individuals and teams with appropriate expertise, and who have demonstrated success developing and implementing grant initiatives.
• Those grant development efforts scheduled on the grants office work plan through the proactive efforts of college divisions and departments.
• Exemplary program development efforts that provide College of DuPage with avenues to build, strengthen, and expand as lead or partner in local, regional, state, and national initiatives.

The grants team provides support to grant development with potentials of less than $10,000 if: the grant will allow COD access to larger funding and partnership potentials; the opportunity represents a chance to build in-house grant and program development capacity; there is potential for continued funding; and/or there is an acceptable level of benefit to offset grant development and implementation efforts.
