Fall 2006 Classes

It's About You
In the Global Scholars Program, promoting global literacy among students is our first priority. The ever-changing world demands a generation of decision-makers who are prepared to face global issues and trends with open minds, articulate thoughts and innovative ideas. Global Scholars are students who successfully complete 25 hours of GSP-designated courses, including two interdisciplinary seminars and a world language.

It's About Experience
You hear it all the time. Top employers seek students who have more than just textbook-knowledge; they want to know if they have experience.

Do you talk the talk AND walk the walk? The faculty and staff of the Global Scholars Program work together to provide our students with a comprehensive learning experience. Because first-hand knowledge is important, in addition to the GSP classes we encourage our students to participate in both local and international activities offered by C.O.D., such as conferences, internships, service learning, study abroad and workshops as a means of solidifying their education.

It's Your Choice
You choose classes from among the diverse GSP curriculum, a combination of general education, core and elective courses designed to assist students with analyzing current trends, exploring cultural diversity, researching the nature and effects of globalization, understanding the role of history in shaping the world we know today and promoting justice among human society. This program was created so that you can obtain a world view regardless of your educational or professional objectives.

It's Your World
It’s your world, what are you going to do with it?

• Have you noticed that the world seems to be
getting smaller? That an event that occurs
halfway across the globe impacts us in a matter
of moments?
• Ever wonder how Mercedes, Cool Water,
Armani and Smart became household terms?
• Or why a 15th century masterpiece is the
focus of an international bestseller?
• As a community, how can we better assist our
neighbors both here and overseas?
• Of the languages that are spoken worldwide,
how many do you speak?
That’s the nature of "globalization," a comprehensive term for the emergence of a global society in which economic, political, environmental and cultural events in one part of the world impact people in other parts of the world.

There are benefits and there are consequences to globalization, but the choice is yours. Be empowered and inspired to shape the world around you.

Remember, you are the decision-makers of tomorrow. Prepare yourselves today!
