Part-time Classified Employee Benefits

Benefit: Paid Leave Bank
Who Pays: The College
Eligibility: Upon employment
Benefits Received: For Regular Part-Time employees, 16 pro-rated days of Paid Leave are available each fiscal year. These are accrued per payroll according to the hours that are worked.

Benefit: Retirement Plan
Who Pays: Employee contributes eight (8) percent of gross
Eligibility: Upon employment
Benefits Received: State University Retirement System (SURS). SURS retirement annuities are paid for life. You are eligible to receive a retirement annuity when you satisfy one of the following conditions:

1) age 55 with eight (8) years of service
OR
2) age 62 with five (5) years.
Death and survivors benefits for beneficiary are available. Tax sheltered. Choose from three retirement plans: Traditional, Portable and Self Managed. SURS will send employee information

Benefit: Credit Union
Open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Who Pays: Employee
Eligibility: Upon employment
Benefits Received: Available to Regular Part-Time employees. Federal Credit Union is available to employees for saving and loans. Employees may arrange to have regular payroll deductions for the credit union. Contact the Credit Union at Ext. 2050.

Benefit: Free Check Cashing
Who Pays: Employee
Eligibility: Upon employment
Benefits Received: Employees may cash checks up to $50 at the Business Office (Cashiers) with no charge. You must have an employee ID.

Benefit: Bookstore/ Plant Shop
Who Pays: The College
Eligibility: Upon employment
Benefits Received: Employees receive a 10 percent discount at the campus bookstore and plant shop with a C.O.D. ID.

Benefit: Library
Who Pays: The College
Eligibility: Upon employment
Benefits: Use of the College library requires an I.D. card.

Benefit: Athletic Facilities
Who Pays: The College/Employee
Eligibility: Upon employment
Benefits: Employees and their families may use the College athletics facilities during certain hours. This requires a minimal fee and an ID card. Please contact the Physical Education department for schedules and additional information. P.E. Website

Benefit: Unemployment Compensation
Who Pays: The College
Eligibility: Upon employment
Benefits: Unemployment insurance is provided in accordance with applicable Illinois law.

Benefit: Worker’s Compensation
Who Pays: The College
Eligibility: Upon employment
Benefits: This provides medical, disability and death benefits for employees when they are injured on the job or suffer an illness due to employment, within the scope of employment. You must contact Health Services or Public Safety to report an injury or incident within 24 hours. Applicable medical bills are sent to Human Resources.

Benefit: Medicare
Who Pays: Employee contributes 1.45 percent of gross
Eligibility: Upon employment
Benefits: For employees hired after April 1986. The deduction from paycheck for Medicare is 1.45 percent of gross.

Benefit: Long-Term Disability
Who Pays: The College
Eligibility: After two (2) years of service
Benefits: State Universities Retirement Systems (SURS) provides long-term disability (LTD). Employee is eligible for LTD after 60 days of complete disability. Pays 50 percent of basic compensation on date disability occurs or 50 percent of average earnings from previous 24 months, whichever is greater. SURS booklets are available in Human Resources.

Benefit: FMLA (Family/Medical Leave Act)*
Who Pays: The College
Eligibility: After one (1) year of employment, 1,250 hours or more
Benefits: Up to 12 weeks of Unpaid Leave of Absence. See Human Resources for information.

Benefit: Tax Sheltered Annuity Plans*
Who Pays: Employee
Eligibility: Upon employment
Benefits: Employees may arrange to have a regular payroll deduction to participate. See Human Resources for information.

Benefit: Discount Program
Who Pays: Employee
Eligibility: Upon employment
Benefits: See Human Resources for the list, which includes Disney Card, Jiffy Lube and Santa’s Village, or check on Outlook under Public Folders/Human Resources/Discount List.

Benefit: Tuition Waiver
Who Pays: Employee
Eligibility: Upon Employment
Benefits: Must be eligible at time of registration and a regular employee (not temporary), scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week. You may register for one credit class per semester. You cannot register prior to one week before the semester begins. Online registration cannot be used for enrollment. Benefit is for employee only. Forms are available in Human Resources. Fees are not included.

Benefit: Health Insurance
Who Pays: Employee
Eligibility: Upon Employment
Benefits: Insurance is available to employees within 31 days of employment. Information is available in Human Resources. You must be Regular Part-Time, scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week.*The proper form must be completed.
