The Gahlberg Gallery has closed its doors while the McAninch Arts Center undergoes a major 18-month renovation and builds a new gallery addition.
Local philanthropist and art collector Cleve Carney has provided a significant legacy gift to establish the Cleve Carney Art Space, a one-story addition to be built on the west side of the MAC (opening spring 2014) that will bear his name and benefit generations to come. He has also donated artworks from his own extensive contemporary art collection, which will be prominently displayed throughout the College campus along with other pieces in the College’s Permanent Art Collection.
The future Cleve Carney Art Space is poised to offer innovative programming that cultivates a variety of perspectives fostering an interdisciplinary understanding of the visual arts. Our goal is to be a center of contemporary art in the Chicago area, where artistic creation intersects with social interactions that encourage the growth and understanding of contemporary art through exhibitions and educational programming.
In conjunction with the Cleve Carney legacy gift, the College of DuPage Foundation has launched a three-year campaign to ensure Mr. Carney’s generous gift is fully realized. Contributions to the endowment fund will support vital programming such as artist engagement opportunities for community members and students, gallery exhibitions, artist commissions, new acquisitions and other teaching and learning tools that foster cultural enrichment in our community. Further information on how to donate can be found www.cod.edu/foundation/give.aspx.
