Few programs at College of DuPage have excelled to the same level as the speech (forensics) team. For years, College of DuPage has consistently won top honors at the national level tournaments for two- and four-year institutions. Recent accomplishments include the 1991, 1992, 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1999 first place title at the community college national championship as well as the second place title at the 1993 national championship for four-year institutions (beating such schools as Notre Dame, University of Illinois, USC, Cal Berkeley, The University of Texas and Arizona State). Many students have gone on to four-year universities on scholarship and have reached the top of their field, in careers ranging from law to the entertainment industry (both John and Jim Belushi were team members).
