DEGREES AND CERTIFICATES If you complete the Fashion Design degree option, you are prepared to work as designers, pattern makers, sample makers, seamstresses, alterations specialist and theater costumers. Selecting the Fashion Merchandising degree option will prepare you for positions in sales and management, such as manufacturer representatives, buyers, department store managers, visual display specialists and fashion coordinators. The Fashion Design certificate concentrates on technical fashion courses and is often selected if you have completed college degrees or are interested only in the technical aspects of the fashion field. In the Fashion Merchandising certificate option, you can study for positions in sales and management, such as showroom personnel, manufacturer’s representative or visual merchandiser. You can also earn the Fashion Entrepreneurial certificate and learn more about the business side of the fashion industry. While a bachelor’s degree in a related field such as business or fine arts can be beneficial, opportunities are continuing to increase for individuals who obtain an associate’s degree. Program
