Update Final paving of Lots P and O and Center
Drive was delayed due to extremely cold temperatures at the end of
November and beginning of December.Final pavement of Lot P and Center Drive
is to be completed by the end of November. Pavement marking is scheduled
to be completed the first week of December. Lot P and Center Drive
are to open for public use in December. Lot O is scheduled to be paved
in December.Curbs and sub-base are to be completed
in Lot P and Circle Drive by the end of the October. Pavement for
both Lot P and Circle Drive is to start by the end of October. It
is anticipated that Lot O will be open for public parking in the spring
2006.This project started at the beginning of
September with construction of the north/south roadway and installation
of the new electrical duct bank. Construction of the new Parking Lot
P is expected to be completed by the end of October. Construction
of Parking Lot O is pending permit approval by the Village of Glen
Ellyn.On July 14, the Board of Trustees awarded
the contract for construction to Abbey Paving Co., Inc. Construction
is scheduled to begin at the beginning of September. The work to be
completed in 2005 includes two new parking lots P and O, a new roadway
from College Road to Circle Drive, and installation of a fiber optic
duct bank for future communication systems. Schematic design was presented and approved
by the Board of Trustees on May 12, 2005. The project is currently
in the design development phase. Bid documents are anticipated to
be complete in August 2005.The proposed schematic design will be presented
to the Board of Trustees on May 12. The topographical site and utility
surveys have been completed. Geotechnical exploration (soil borings)
for the existing parking and roadway areas on east campus has also
been completed.
