Healthcare Education Institute (H.E.I.) at the DuPage Convalescent
Center
The proposed Healthcare Education Institute (H.E.I.) at the DuPage
County Convalescenct Center on County Farm Road will improve access
to health careers education through an innovative partnership between
DuPage County and College of DuPage. The proposed center will create
a community-based, flexible mix of classroom, lab and clinical training
spaces to meet the changing needs of the health careers field. The
concept will be based on a “teaching hospital” concept
to focus on holistic health maintenance education within a post-acute
facility.
On February 17, 2005, the Board of Trustees approved and adopted an
Intergovernmental Agreement with the County of DuPage for the design
phase of the renovation of one wing of the Convalescent Center. Once
the renovation is complete, C.O.D. will lease the space from the county.
C.O.D. and DuPage County are currently in the A/E selection process.
Both C.O.D. and the county are also actively pursuing sources of external
funding and grants.
