Introduction to the uses and functions of Blackboard
Prior to attending Blackboard:
Verify that you know your Novell network login and password. If you need assistance,
please contact the IT Help Desk at 630/942-HELP (630/942-4357)
2. Verify your Novell Login & password will work in the Blackboard login
screen (http://bb.cod.edu)
3. Verify your student login and 4-digit PIN will work in the Blackboard login
screen. If your student login does not work (the first part of your MYCOD student
e-mail address) contact the Student Help Desk at ext. 2999 for assistance.
Remember to bring:
1.) Syllabus in electronic format
2.) Course materials in electronic format
3.) Any other files you may want to insert into a course

The survey and testing features in Blackboard offer instructors numerous options for online assessment. In this hands-on workshop, participants will have the opportunity to explore the test and survey manager and to experience test-taking from a student perspective. Emphasis will be on creating and modifying tests, importin/exporting exams, and how to manage timed tests.

The Gradebook can track all student grades associated with Tests, Assignments, and Discussion Board postings. It can also accommodate scores for work completed outside of Blackboard. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to maximize the options available in the Gradebook and view grades from a student perspective. Emphasis will be on using, customizing and exporting the Gradebook.
