Workplace Violence/Drug Free Workplace

What do I do if I suspect someone is angry, possibly violent? Who do I call? How do I detect it? This session will cover the possible causes and types of workplace violence, some warning signs of potentially violent individuals, how to prevent violence and how to report it will be covered.The video program, Creating a Drug Free Workplace: Back on Track will provide valuable information on how to create a drug-free workplace, symptoms of substance abuse, how to intervene and adverse effects of drug abuse. It will also help you to comply with the Federal Drug-Free Workplace Act and COD policy. If you ever wanted to learn about Drug Free Workplace, this is the workshop for you.


National Incident Management System (NIMS) Training

Subject:  Required Supervisory Training

As recipients of Federal preparedness funding through the ED’s Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools (REMS) and Emergency Management for Higher Education (EMHE) Discretionary Grant Program, local educational agencies and schools are required to fulfill NIMS implementation activities in close coordination with members of their local government and emergency response community. Additionally, it is recommended that all schools and HEIs review and implement these activities as they are key steps any school or HEI can take in advance of an emergency, and may also formalize many activities already being conducted by schools or HEIs.

As part of this program College of DuPage will require all supervisors to complete the IS-700 National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction course.  This course introduces NIMS and takes approximately three hours to complete. It explains the purpose, principles, key components and benefits of NIMS. The course also contains "Planning Activity" screens giving you an opportunity to complete some planning tasks during this course. The planning activity screens are printable so that you can use them after you complete the course.

 

How to take the course & receive certificate

  • Study the course material, click on each of the module links under Table of Contents below.
  • After reviewing course contents, go to FEMA Independent Study website to submit final exam answers online. The last unit of the course also contains links to the final exam questions and the online answer sheet.
  • You will be notified by email from Independent Study Program Office. Be sure to provide a valid email address on the online answer sheet in order to receive your pass or fail status confirmation.

REMEMBER TO TURN OFF YOUR POP UP BLOCKER IN ORDER TO PRINT YOUR CERTIFICATE
