Basic Advising Skills

This course is worth 2 credit hours.
The Basic Advising Skills course is designed to provide faculty, administrators and staff with the information and skills necessary to competently carry out their particular role in advising. The course combines classroom time with experiential and independent work, covering topics such as; the COD advising model, degree requirements, advising materials, IAI, placement testing, prerequisites, transfer information, advising strategies and resources available through the Library. Each participant will finish the course with the development of a new advising tool or activity specific to their area.
