Blackboard v9.1: Getting Started

This workshop will guide participants through the basic tasks and decisions required to set up a course. First, they will view the course from a student's perspective as they navigate through tools and content.
The focus will then turn to the instructor's perspective. Participants will walk through the process of planning, creating, and organizing the Course Menu. Participants will gain hands-on experience creating a Course Menu suitable for their own courses. They will also develop a Getting Started Content Area designed to provide students with the information they need to be successful learners. Participants will also learn to customize their courses to add visual interest and address pedagogical requirements.
Common start up tasks such as creating announcements, adding calendar entries, building a syllabus, setting up discussion forums, and adding textbook information will also be introduced.
It is recommended that you take this course prior to participating in the Mastering the Grade Center course.

Blackboard v9.1: Mastering the Grade Center

This workshop provides a comprehensive, hands-on introduction to the Grade Center tool. Participants will become familiar with how grades will appear to students. You will learn how to navigate the Grade Center and customize it to suit your needs. Next, you will create columns to manage and calculate grades. Finally, you will enter and manage grades, including grading test and assignment submissions.

Blackboard v9.1: Monitoring Student Performance
(2 week online workshop)

Prerequisite: Getting Started workshop or previous experience working in Blackboard. Participants will be expected to know how to login and navigate in Blackboard.
In this two-week workshop, you will gain in-depth knowledge of the tools and features that help monitor and evaluate student performance in Blackboard. Topics include Grade Center, Early Warning System, Performance Dashboard, Review Status, Student Statistic, and Grade Center reports.
To successfully complete this workshop, you must take an active part. You will participate in discussions, submit assignments, take quizzes and share journal, blog, and wiki entries. You will experience Blackboard as a student and as an instructor.
You will need to have reliable access to a computer, the internet and speakers. All content is available from within the course. no additional text or materials are needed.
