This tip applies to Windows XP.
Your keyboard has two ‘Windows’
keys
, one on each
side of your main alphabet keys, at the bottom between the Ctrl and Alt keys.
Either of the Windows keys, in conjunction with another key can be used to perform shortcuts. Here’s a list of some of those. Hold down the Windows key as you tap the additional key.
Windows (by itself) opens the Start menu and shows the taskbar.
Windows D minimizes or restores all windows so you can see the Desktop
Windows E displays ‘Windows Explorer’.
Windows F displays ‘Search for files’.
Windows F1 displays Help and Support Center window.
Windows R displays the Run dialog box.
Windows Break Displays the System Properties dialog box (shows version of Windows, RAM, hardware interfaces, etc.)
Windows L Lock your computer ( you’ll need to re-login)
