TLC Tips of the Week:                          from Helen Olberg

This week’s tip applies to Microsoft Word.

Here’s how to put two tables next to each other on a two-column page:

For two columns of equal size:

  1. Insert the two tables, one above the other.
  2. Adjust the column widths (and possibly the font sizes) in each table to ensure the total width of each table is less than half the width of the page.
  3. Select both tables.
  4. On the Standard toolbar, click the Columns button, and then drag the pointer to select 2 Columns.

For two columns of different sizes:

  1. Insert the two tables, one above the other.
  2. Select both tables.
  3. In the menu bar, select Format > Columns.
  4. Enter 2 for the Number of columns.
  5. Click the Left or Right picture under Presets (for unequal columns).
  6. You can set the size of the columns here or afterward through the Ruler bar.
  7. Click OK when finished.
