TLC Tips of the Week:                          from Helen Olberg

This week’s tip applies to your USB jump, flash, memory drive.

It’s wonderful that Windows XP / NT / 2000 can recognize the USB drive when you plug it into a computer. This allows you to view all the files and folders just as you would any other removable drive. However, sometimes that computer already has other removable drives, so you need to figure out which ‘Removable drive’ is the USB drive. Here’s an easy way to know: change its drive label.

How:

  1. In My Computer or Windows Explorer, locate and right-click your USB drive.
  2. Choose ‘Rename’.
  3. Type in a unique name; the name can contain NO spaces and up to 11 characters, underscores, dashes, or numbers.
  4. Press the Enter key when finished typing the name.
