TLC
Tips of the Week: from
Helen Olberg

This week’s tip applies to Microsoft
Word.
Do you get frustrated when inserting images into your Word
documents? Consider using a text box to get more precise control over the
position of a picture or clip art in your document. (A text box is a moveable,
sizable container for text and/or graphics.)
- On the Drawing toolbar, click
Text Box (or, on the menu bar Insert > Text box).
- Click the border of the box that
contains the words "Create your drawing here" to remove it (if necessary).
- Click the border of the text box that
appears, and drag it to where you want to position the graphic.
- Place your cursor within the text
box.
- Add the picture or clip art to the
text box as you normally would… click Insert on the menu bar, point to
Picture, and choose Clip Art, From File, etc.
- Notice that you still have a blinking
cursor in the box. You can type additional into the text box.
- Resize your image as desired.
- Use the options on the Drawing
toolbar to change the box’s background (fill) color, border color, style and
width, etc.
