Tips of the Week: from

Here are some easy-to-use shortcuts for using Internet
Explorer:
- When typing a website address
that contains starts with ‘www.’ and ends with ‘.com’, you can type just the
middle part and press Ctrl Enter. Internet Explorer will put in the ‘www.’
And the ‘.com’.

Try this: type cubs and press Ctrl Enter.
- After following links, use
the BackSpace key to return to a previous page.
- To go forward from a previous
page, press Alt RightArrow.
- To return to your home page,
press Alt Home.
- This is particularly useful
– after using a search engine, you’ve gone to a site that lists more than
just the item you want to view. You may use the Find (Edit Find or Ctrl F)
to locate that item. In the Find dialog box, enter part of the text for the
item you want.
- You may open more than one
copy of Internet Explorer at a time. To open a new window, press Ctrl N. This
window will contain the same information as the window that was active, but
you may change the URL and go to another website while leaving the first where
it was. This is particularly helpful to compare information in two different
websites. CAUTION: hopefully, you have enough memory and hard drive space
to have both open at the same time.
- To close the active window,
press Ctrl W.
- To stop downloading a page,
press the ESC key.
- To toggle between full-screen
and regular views of Internet Explorer, press the F11 key.
