TLC Tips of the Week:                          from Helen Olberg

This week’s tips regard MS Access and Excel data entry. In Access this applies to data entry into a table, query, or screen form.

1.   When entering information into a column, you can use the Ditto combination keys Ctrl ‘ (apostrophe) to enter the same data from the previous row. If you don’t like it, you can type over it.

2.  To change the data in a cell of a column, the F2 key will allow you to edit within the cell.

3.  Excel will allow you to enter up to 255 characters into a cell. In Access the number of characters is based on the data type defined in the table and the input mask for that field. For example, a Text field can be up to 255 characters, a Memo field can be up to 65,536 characters, a Date/Time field will most probably depend upon the input mask.
