In addition
to the training provided to Basic Academy recruits SLEA also offers
Continuing Education (CE) programs to sworn and civilian law enforcement
personnel. The current curriculum offered by SLEA’s CE Division
spans a wide variety of law enforcement training needs, i.e. computer
crimes/internet investigation, professional development and anti-terrorism
training.
SLEA
is a prior recipient of the Governors Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement
Training and Organizational Achievement, in recognition of outstanding
basic training and continuing education. In addition SLEA’s computer
Crimes Investigation Course received two distinguished honors: the Innovative
Program Award from the Illinois Council on Continuing Higher Education
and Exemplary Program Award from the National Council for Continuing
Education and Training.
On September
6, 2006, Hale P. Guyer, SLEA instructor and well respected expert in
field of computer crimes investigation was the recipient of the Illinois
Governor’s Award of Excellence in Law Enforcement Training at
the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board, Quarterly
meeting held in Rockford, Illinois. Hale was acknowledged for his dedication
to training law enforcement personnel over many years and particularly
being instrumental in the development of numerous Computer Crime and
Cyber Terrorism programs at SLEA.
