Portable Scales Certification

Program Information:
This 4-hour class is
designed to certify any police officer in the use of portable weight
scales. Certification is required by the Illinois Vehicle Code before
portable scales may be operated by a police officer for evidentiary
weighing. The Suburban Law Enforcement Academy (SLEA) in collaboration
with Illinois Truck Enforcement Association is committed to providing
cutting-edge training that will give police officers the skills to
operate these device with skill and confidence.
Curriculum:
The classroom
instruction will be reinforced by a comprehensive, hands-on field
practical followed by a written exam.

and preparation
All students
successfully passing the course will be certified by SLEA and the
Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) in the
operation of portables scales. Students will also take home organized
and concise reference materials that will assist them in doing their job
with confidence. Students who have completed a 40-hour training course
in truck enforcement will be given a membership opportunity in the
Illinois Truck Enforcement Association. The ITEA provides officers with
real time, online support from their peers in truck enforcement.
**Cancellations for this class must be received
by SLEA 35 days prior to the start of the program in order to avoid being
billed!**
