Police Discipline

Hours: 8
Tuition: $175.00

This program has been approved by the Illinois Training and Standards Board as meeting the requirements of Public Training Act 94-354 mandatory training for Police Chiefs and Deputy Chiefs. Participants will receive (7) hours credit toward their required mandatory training.

This workshop focuses on the critical issues that law enforcement leaders face in their efforts to lead people in large and small agencies. No issues can be as highly charged for law enforcement executives as discipline matters within an agency. Both the public and the employees expect leaders to handle discipline matters professionally. The actual cases presented in this workshop are derived from current law enforcement issues that are faced by police leaders.

Topics include:

  • Major issues of the disciplinary case studies
  • Disciplinary cases that have an external focus
  • Disciplinary dilemmas leaders face
  • Discipline approaches
  • How to prevent discipline issues from occurring
  • Best practices
  • Media relations and discipline cases

**Cancellations for this class must be received by SLEA 35 days prior to the start of the program in order to avoid being billed!**
