Program Information:
Investigating missing and abducted
children cases are emotionally and polarizing events for families,
communities and law enforcement. This one day 8-hour program, taught by
a retired FBI Special Agent who worked Crimes Against Children
investigations for many years, has been developed to facilitate law
enforcement agencies in locating and investigating children of
abductions/kidnappings. This program will give officers a step by step
guide on how to respond to and investigate missing child cases and
provide Administrators with the programmatic framework to manage the
missing child response within their agency’s jurisdiction.
Objectives of this class:

Learn what type of investigation
is to be conducted upon arrival at the scene of a reported Child
Abduction.

Coordinating concurrent
investigations of family members and unknown stranger/suspects (i.e.
Adam Walsh case) that maintain prosecutorial integrity yet focus on
locating child victims.

Learn the importance of
different locations for Crime Scene Searches and evidence that can
be obtained.

How to conduct a General Area
Search in order to obtain evidence of the abduction.

Learn the importance of and use
of Victimology in the investigation.

Setting up Major Case
Management, its different components and how it affects the outcome
of the investigation.

How to set up Liaison with the
Victim’s Family

Learn the most effective way to
set up a Neighborhood Investigation.

Learn Interview/Interrogation
process of Child Predators.

Learn Media Strategies that will
help the investigation.

by SLEA 35 days prior to the start of the program in order to avoid being
