Program Information:
There have been more substantive
changes in the law recently then in any other time in the last decade.
Law enforcement officers must familiarize themselves with the new rules
on search incident to arrest, police-citizen interactions at traffic
stops and other important developments that will have a direct impact on
law enforcement in the future. This engaging 8 hour program is a
discussion based curriculum designed to allow officers to work through
scenarios founded on new changes in the law. Officers will be
presented with fact patterns based on criminal cases that affect their
work in the field and will be expected to work through the appropriate
legal solutions/considerations.

Confession Law
Juvenile Law
Evidence Collection

A discussion of search warrant
execution in Child Sexual Assault and Internet Crime Cases:

“physical evidence”

A discussion of search warrant
execution in Drug Cases including:
Warrants for car keys and titles
Alternatives to dynamic entry

Implications of search incident
to arrest afterArizona v. Gant and Herring v. U.S.

Police-citizen interactions in
light of Arizona v. Johnson.

by SLEA 35 days prior to the start of the program in order to avoid being
