Juvenile Law Update

This 8 hour course for Law
Enforcement will closely examine a variety
of juvenile justice issues of special relevance to Illinois Peace Officers,
including the following:
- Special role of juvenile police officers in juvenile interrogations
- Unique and general considerations in conducting juvenile interrogations
- Required electronic recording of juvenile interrogations in certain
cases
- Permitted mingling of juvenile and adult offenders/ Secure custody
of juvenile arrestees
- Juvenile Justice Reform Provisions/ Confidentiality of juvenile records
- Searches in school settings/ Formal and informal station adjustments
- Overview of Neglect, Abuse, Dependency, MRAI and much more…
Each attendee will receive course material which includes a detailed
explanation of selected important provisions of the Juvenile Court Act
and amendments, recent case decisions and Statutes outside of the Act
which relate to minors. New offense provisions from the Illinois Criminal
Code and Illinois Vehicle Code, Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act,
Abandoned Newborn Infant Protection Act and more will be discussed.

by SLEA 35 days prior to the start of the program in order to avoid being
