The challenges facing public sector managers just keep coming.  Citizens and communities want more and more services with higher standards of performance and at the same time, they are less willing to pay more in taxes and fees.  Similarly, generational changes in work ethic and career dedication make the job of leadership even more daunting.  These and numerous other factors make surviving and ultimately thriving as manager an interesting challenge.  This workshop will identify trends that are impacting leaders; examine the changing world of public sector managers; and offers solutions for building stronger teams that are capable of surviving and even thriving in hard times.

This workshop includes:

• Trends in society and the workforce that are reshaping the roles of public servants

• Changes that have impacted our lives and how those changes affect us

• Building teams that can survive and thrive

• Managing problem employees and understanding the games they play, why they play them and why you often lose

• Time management and expanding the boundaries of delegation

• Stress and coping skills for yourself and your team

• Strategic visioning and planning
