Ground Defense Confrontations
for Public Safety Personnel

Hours: 8
Tuition: $150.00

The Suburban Law Enforcement Academy in collaboration with Team No Ego L.L.C. is pleased to announce it will be offering a new program for public safety personnel in ground defense—close quarters confrontations, beginning December 2007.

All too often law enforcement officers and public safety personnel are thrust into situations in which they must deal with non-compliant, resistive or confrontational individuals and without the ability, or practicality of employing other reasonable control countermeasures, e.g. pepper spray or electronic disruption devices.

This practiced training program has been designed to provide students from Police Officers and Tactical Officers to Fire Fighters, Paramedics and Correctional Officers, with proven techniques that limit injury to personnel and offenders and facilitate taking safe control and custody of individuals.

Students will learn the following from professional instructors with over 30 years of law enforcement and martial arts experience:

  • Review of current department rules and regulations relative to Use of Force and it’s continuum
  • Be introduced to the concept of close quarter confrontations
  • Learn practical and effective movements
  • Learn appropriate positioning
  • Practice and execute safe takedown and ground defense ground escapes
