Program
Information:
This 40 hour hands-on certification program is designed for law enforcement
personnel, coroners or medical examiners who have responsibilities as
they relate to death investigations, crime scene evidence identification,
collection and preservation. Students participating in this program
will learn through a combination of field exercises and classroom instruction.
Practicals dealing with death scene recovery operations in both urban
and rural environments will be covered. Specialists within the field
of Odontology, Anthropology and other specialty areas will also provide
relevant instruction.

Prerequisite:
Knowledge. Students attending this program should have attended SLEA’s
Death Investigation I program or have a fundamental knowledge of Death
Investigation/Evidence Collection Protocols.
Curriculum
Foundation:
The course is built upon a curriculum in keeping with principles laid
out by the International Association for Identification (IAI). Its structure
will assist those students in obtaining the IAI Crime Scene Investigator
(CSI) certification and will also provide the necessary foundation for
SLEA’s advanced Crime Scene Technician/Investigator courses.

Program
Requirements:
Students attending this program should have a fundamental understanding
in the use of their departments’ digital or 35mm camera.
Students
must bring:
A departmental camera, Tripod and independent flash.

for this class must be received by SLEA 35 days prior to the start of
