Cyber Bullying

Hours: 8
Tuition: $149

Program Information:

News media reports reflect an increase in cases of cyber bullying at an alarming rate throughout the U.S. In many instances law enforcement has been tasked with investigating these offenses/complaints while school districts are being urged to adopt reporting and disciplinary procedures to address these concerns.

Local law enforcement needs the skills and training to adequately document and investigate these types of cases, and to be able to educate students, parents and teachers on prevention information when called upon.

This 8-hour, hands-on course utilizing SLEA’s mobile cyber lab will consist of the attendee learning:

  • What is “Cyber Bullying”, and what are some laws that can be applied.

  • Where evidence can be obtained in a high tech crime investigation.

  • How to examine and preserve email headers

  • The use of screen capturing software to preserve evidence.

  • Common tactics used in Cyber Bullying.

  • Steps to prevent yourself and others from falling victim to a Cyber Bully.

  • Information to share when speaking to students, teachers, parents and the community.

  • Case studies reviews, Do’s and Don’ts

**Cancellations for this class must be received by SLEA 35 days prior to the start of the program in order to avoid being billed!**
