Advanced Investigation Techniques for Public Corruption and Internal Affairs/Employee Integrity Matters

Hours: 16
Tuition: $195

Program Information:

Public service is a public trust and the citizens of our communities expect our public officials to act in accordance with the law.  This trust is endangered when misconduct occurs or appears to have occurred. Conducting public corruption investigations requires an approach that clearly demonstrates impartiality while being time sensitive. This process is paramount to protecting the credibility of government organizations and its employees.

This two-day,16-hour program has been developed to provide comprehensive introduction into conducting these types of investigations by Detectives and Investigators.  These high-profile matters usually require a comprehensive and thorough investigation of prominent individuals who may have a significant influence on the same law enforcement agency conducting the investigation.  This course will help provide the tools and methods for the investigators to stay on target and provide the agency a defensible position in the investigative methodology that can result in a successful outcome for the agency.

Topics Include:

  • The Allegation(s)

  • Potential violations of criminal/civil/administrative law or regulations

  • Knowledge of elements of crimes and applicable statutes

  • Discuss the need for a formal notification procedure-if applicable

  • Development of an investigative plan

  • Investigative procedure/methods

  • Workplace searches and authorities

  • Types of warnings

  • Final report

**Cancellations for this class must be received by SLEA 35 days prior to the start of the program in order to avoid being billed!**
