Civil Disturbance

Hours: 8
Tuition: $95

Program Information:

This 1-day, 8-hour program will provide law enforcement personnel with a review and update on the management of civil disturbances. Upon completion of this program officers will be able to provide a response for protection within their respective jurisdiction. Through lecture and hands-on exercises students will learn the importance of how to tactically approach a civil disturbance situation.  These are not only useful for the handling of mass public formations but can also be adapted to smaller crowds found in many everyday law enforcement operational scenarios.  This program will incorporate the use of SLEA’s 4D Immersive Street, tactical village located within the College of DuPage Homeland Security Education Center. The use of the village will allow officers to deploy into streets filled with heavy smoke while using protective equipment and operating in crowd formations.

Topics Include:

  • Psychological Influence of Mob Behaviors

  • Team Tactics for Large and Small departments

  • Use of Protective Equipment and Batons within Crowd Control Formations

  • Contact/Rescue Team Concepts

  • Mass Arrest Techniques and Procedures

  • Potential Liabilities for Use of Riot Control Agents and Less Lethal Munitions

**Cancellations for this class must be received by SLEA 35 days prior to the start of the program in order to avoid being billed!**
