Program Information:
The Suburban Law Enforcement Academy has developed a one day, 8-hour
program on Assessment Centers for public safety agencies. Assessment
Centers are the wave of the future in public safety hiring and promotions
and are one of the best ways of determining who is best suited for a
respective position. It is a process for measuring performance ability
in a realistic setting. Program participants will learn what elements
are necessary to create an in-house center for either hiring or promoting.
The multi-faceted
structured process used in an assessment center can take the guesswork
out of finding the right person and has been established as a highly
defensible screening strategy.

Instructor:
Ken Jones, is a retired Commander with the Cook County Sheriff’s
Police, having served over thirty years in a wide range of positions.
As a principal with Practicing Police Consultants, he developed and
conducted Assessment Centers for police agencies in the greater Chicago
area. He was a faculty member and is currently an adjunct at Aurora
University. He has also taught at the Northwestern University Center
for Public Safety, School of Police Staff and Command. He holds a Master’s
Degree in Criminal Justice Management.
