Use of Force Instructor Course
This five-day hands-on, interactive course is specifically designed
for patrol officers and first line supervisors responsible for Use of
Force training for their agency.
The Use of Force Instructor Class is a comprehensive course covering
the legal,behavioral and physiological aspects involved in use of force
events. This intensive course will prepare the participants to present
use of force through a variety of teaching methodologies.
Topics that will be covered include:
• Use of Force Myths
• Case Law Review
• Model Policy Evaluation
• Use of Force Report Writing
• Best Practices in Critical Incident Investigation
• The current research from PPCT and Force Science
Instructor: Tom Dworak, Sergeant Wilmette Police Department, IL. The
instructor for this course of study is Sgt. Thomas Dworak. Sgt. Dworak
is a 30 year veteran of the Wilmette (IL) Police epartment and serves
as the Field Training and Evaluation Program Coordinator and Lead Defensive
Tactics/Use of Force Instructor. Sgt. Dworak serves as an instructor
for the North East Multi Regional Training MTU#3, the Suburban Law Enforcement
Academy, Northwestern University Center for Public Safety and has been
a guest lecturer for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. Sgt.
Dworak is an Instructor Trainer in the PPCT Defensive Tactics and Spontaneous
Knife Defense Systems and a Force Science Certified Use of Force Analyst.
