Prisoner Suicide Prevention Training for Law Enforcement and Corrections Personnel

Tuition: $75

The Suburban Law Enforcement Academy has developed a one-day, 4 hour curriculum in prisoner suicide prevention for law enforcement/corrections personnel. Personnel/students responsible for confining, detaining and caring for arrestees or persons in protective custody will learn about:

  • Gender differences in suicide
  • Suicide as a public health concern
  • Suicide rates
  • Definition and types of suicide
  • Psychological and biological theories of suicide
  • Risk factors and warning signs for suicide

Dr. Wendy Blank is currently an Associate Professor in the Clinical Forensic Psychology department at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She is the former Chief of Mental Health for the IL Depts. of Corrections and Juvenile Justice and the former head of the statewide hostage team for both Agencies. She holds a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology.

**Cancellations for this class must be received by SLEA 35 days prior to the start of the program in order to avoid being billed!**
