Instructor Development

Hours: 40
Tuition: $295

Course Objective:
This 40-hour, five-day hands-on, course is specifically designed to prepare the new instructor or trainer and enhance the current instructors knowledge and ability in the training.
.
Course Content:
A fast paced course designed for the adult learner. Topics that will be covered include:

• Adult Learning and Coaching
• Generational Differences
• Research Methodology and Design
• Developing Lesson Plans
• Instructional Methodology
• Instructional Design
• Using Technology in Training

Students will be required to research, design and present 5-7 minute presentation. To show mastery of the skills developed in class, students will turn in a detailed list of their research and describe the design and instructional methodology used to develop and present their final topic.

A laptop or tablet with the capabilities of connecting to the internet is required for this course.

The Instructor:

Sgt. Thom Dworak is a 30 year veteran of the Wilmette (IL ) Police Department and serves as the Lead Defensive Tactics Instructor and Field Training and Evaluation Program Coordinator. Thom is the Instructor Development Section Editor for the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA) Journal and has presented on a wide variety of topics at the Annual ILEETA Conference. Sgt. Dworak serves as a trainer for the North East Multi-Regional Training MTU#3, the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy, Northwestern University Center for Public Safety and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.

 

**Cancellations for this class must be received by SLEA 35 days prior to the start of the program in order to avoid being billed!**
