Fire Origin and Cause Awareness for Police Officers and Detectives

Program Information:
This 8 hour one day class is designed for police officers who will be involved at fire investigation scenes. This class will provide necessary and basic training to assist fir investigations. Post fire scene safety, scene security and evidence recognition will be taught. Concepts such as the "Scientific Method, Systematic Approach, Fire Behavior, Fire Science, Origin Indicators, Incendiary Indicators and Fire Patterns" will be introduced.

Instructor: Kent Becker

Your instructor is a 30 year retired veteran with the Aurora Fire Department. He served as the city's Fire Marshall, training officer, and Commander of the Fire Investigation Team. Kent served on the DuPage County Fire Investigation Task Force as a team leader for six years. He has a B.A. in Fire Administration, Associate Arts in Fire Science and certified at the National Fire Academy for fire investigations. Kent has taught Fire Science at the college level for over 20 years. He is also an instructor for the Illinois Fire Institute.
