The Investigation of Domestic Violence Homicide

This two-day couse uniquely combines both the investigative and psychological aspects of domestic violence and homicide. The first day is taught from the investigator's point of view and needs and covers all aspects of events leading to a domestic violence murder. Day two is instructed by a licensed clinical psychologist who is a specialist in domestic violence. This joint approach will offer a detective a comprehensive overview of the dynamics that go from a simple domestic quarrel to its escalation and evolution into a homicide. Subject material will incude topics such as: intimate patern homicide, elder and child abuse, patricide/matricide. Attendees will be encouraged to present previously adjudicated cases from their jurisdictions. The class is designed so that detectives will receive investigative and case mangement suggestions to enhance their knowledge of murder investigations.
