Description of Organization:
Naper Settlement is a 19th century village showing the lifestyles of those who settled in the early days just west of Chicago. The purpose of the museum is to educate and preserve history. Costumed interpreters relate the stories of what life was like in their buildings and non-costumed volunteers assist in office support functions and special events.
Description of Service Learner Role:
Education and preservation related projects can be arranged year-round. Fall (August – October) assistance is needed to build and paint sets, adapt skits based on 19th century scary literature, be costumed actors/actresses, or event logistics for the end of October for the All Hallows Event (Halloween) special event held on the grounds of the museum.
